This book is written with humor, "color", and curiosity. The family dynamics are real and the story makes you want to know more about birds. It's very entertaining and you really don't know what to anticipate for the ending. A must read for children or for grown ups to read to children.
I bought it for my two reading age grandsons, 6 & 7 year old. They were into it right from the start, & had to be forced to turn out the lights & go to sleep. (It's suited for both genders.)
It also like the fact that there's no violence.
A perfect book for young people as well as older people! Jack has a sublime literary talent that not only talks the language of young folks, but also to teach us all how to respect, love, and take care of the earth and its creatures with fun! He also invites you to explore your imagination and participation of arts, crafts, games and parties. Such a delightful book! The love that is evident in the book jumps into your own soul. A must read!!!
This is a delightful story and is completely engaging from beginning to end. I personally did not want to put it down! I imagine that children of all different ages would appreciate it as well. Jack Hyman brings us beautiful messages throughout this book about love, kindness, sharing, relationships, the importance of family and friends, and respect for all beings in this world. The heartwarming ending was perfect as well. Loved the illustrations too!
Breakfast with the Birds is a delightful and charming story featuring sweet Molly who becomes a "mother" to an injured bird. Molly and her funny and bothersome little brother, Ferd, share laughter and love while they banter and bond over their love for new bird. Jack Hyman is a fabulous storyteller. You will laugh and love this book and want to keep it forever...and give it as gifts )

My grandaughter (age 12) couldn't put this little volume down. She laughed, almost cried too and stopped to read some of the passages to me, her Pops. Wonderful story and great fun with wholesome values. Thanks to the author and hope he keeps them coming.
