Lisa is adrift—searching for connection on social media to compensate for the absence of love and attention in her marriage. But when a dominant married man entices her to become his online submissive, Lisa’s world starts to collapse around her. Could giving up all control be the secret to finding the serenity she longs to have? Cerebral and erotic, Entropy explores the murky depths of an online affair and how upheaval of the status quo reverberates through a woman’s life and sense of self.

Entropy edition by Joshua Edward Smith Literature Fiction eBooks

I have no idea how to review this book actually. There were lots of topic in the book, it's hard to focus on just one, beside from the main relationship between Sir and Lisa.

Lisa is a middle aged woman who has an unfunctional marriage with a cheating husband. They don't have anything in common but their two children maybe. In this marriage, Lisa finds the peace of her mind in social media, with the same minded people she's met there. And one day, she meets Sir.

Sir is at the same position as Lisa. He is a prisoner in an unhappy marriage, hiding his true self and searching for happiness.

"A marriage takes work. You have to constantly put energy into it to keep it from falling apart. Going nowhere takes energy. Stability isn't what you get when you do nothing. It's what you can hope to achieve when you work hard."

Entropy has so many triggers for easily offended readers. There is cheating, cancer, death, a strange kind of polygamy (almost)...This book is really about entropy. When the things go well, something happens and turn the things into chaos.
Entropy was like a prologue to the real story. The epilogue of the book made me curious for the next one, Duality.

It took me so long to read this book because of "real life" obligations but, the good thing is no matter how many days you stay away from the book, when you turn back, you'll continue to read it without any problem.

Mr Smith's writing style is so different, almost unique in a way. He is balancing the non-fiction with a fiction as telling the story. It may be a little slow for some readers but it's the essense of the book.

You should really give this book a chance. It is more different than what's on the market recently and I enjoyed with this difference.

Entropy edition by Joshua Edward Smith Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Reading a synopsis immediately had me intrigued - and once I started, I had to find out how it ended. It's probably a book best not read while at work, but that's exactly what I did. I didn't want to put it down.

Lisa is definitely a flawed heroine. Her life, while seemingly perfect from the outside, is anything but. Loneliness and longing send her looking for something she didn't really know she wanted. What starts out as innocent fun and excitement quickly turns into something much deeper. When she is hit with a series of sometimes improbable trials and tribulations she seems to deal with her pain by exploring a side of her sexuality that excites her and scares her and brings meaning to her life. She seeks comfort through sexual release in a world of BDSM and a dominant submissive relationship.

The subject matter is at times uncomfortable. How far would you go to satisfy your desires? What truly makes you happy? Is it possible to live happily outside of societal norms? Where is that line between pain and desire? Love and fear?

Knowing that this was the author's first novel, I honestly went in with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of writing and the depth of the storytelling. Not only does he do a fabulous job at accurately portraying complicated relationships and deeply intimate encounters, the writing is also intelligent and witty. I'm already looking forward to reading what else he has to share.
The pacing and energy of this novel make it a fun read and the subject matter seems to be handled with a degree of respect and honesty, which keeps the story moving. I do not know first-hand about this life, but I do know I attempted to read "50 Shades" and could not get through it, mainly because I found the writing to be uninspiring. This novel is worth checking out and this author explored a topic that his author's note said he stumbled upon accidentally. The manner with which he seems to incorporated some degree of truth into an exploitative topic impressed me as it seems to have been a journey for him as well. I look forward to the next book (hopefully on a different subject!) from this crisp, precise & descriptive writing style.
This was so hard to rate because it is probably the oddest book I have ever read. Since it really held my interest, with the several twists that were thrown in, I decided on 4 stars. I'm not thrilled that I will need to purchase the sequel in order to find out where this story goes, but I'm hooked and must do so.

It's very different and unique from most books I read. Not typical at all, and I found it strangely interesting. So if you want something a little out of the norm, take a chance on this one, but beware you will probably need to get the next book.
I found this book fascinating for a number of reasons. First, our protagonist Lisa is older- decades of marriage under her belt and two grown children fresh out of the nest- but the sort of intense psychological journey and sexual awakening she experiences is typically reserved for doe-eyed twenty year olds. What a refreshing and daring choice from the author.

Secondly, there is an ordinariness to Smith's storytelling, a steady and methodical account of the information that is a perfect contrast to the turbulent tangle of events that ensue. But do not take this to mean 'dull'. Entropy is anything but. The author simply presents the details in the most uncluttered light, and does not goad the audience into what to think or how to feel. This stripped down narrative allows you to step in and out of the story, to indulge as a spectator or a participant. It is the kind of book you will want to reread because a shift in perspective will transform it into something else entirely.

Entropy is dark and hopeful and thought provoking. There were times when I wanted to slap Lisa, and other times when I wished I could give her a hug, but nonetheless, her story stirred something in me. I'm definitely looking forward to reading book 2, Duality.
